La Otra

There are moments that I love. One happens at the crack of dawn. You've pulled an all nighter with your friends and you're at that point where you are just driving around, watching the sunrise and listening to sweet music. It's what I imagine being in love is like because there's a sense of serenity unlike any other. Your emotions are heightened, but you are at peace with them.

At five a.m. this morning, I went out to find a cup of coffee and was listening to a cd Forsythe made for me two years ago when I first moved to Chicago. I was in the car, feeling that peace until this song hit me.

Restless Farewell by Bob Dylan

Oh all the money that in my whole life I did spend
Be it mine right or wrongfully
I let it slip gladly to my friends
To tie up the time most forcefully
But the bottles are done
We've killed each one
And the table's full and overflowed
And the corner sign
Says it's closing time
So I'll bid farewell and be down the road.
Oh ev'ry girl that ever I've touched
I did not do it harmfully
And ev'ry girl that even I've hurt
I did not do it knowin'ly
But to remain as friends we need the time
And make demands and stay behind
And since my feet are now fast
And point away from the past
I'll bid farewell and be down the line.
Oh ev'ry foe that ever I faced
The cause was there before we came
And ev'ry cause that ever I fought
I fought it full without regret or shame
But the dark does die
As the curtain is drawn and somebody's eyes
Must meet the dawn
And if I see the day
I'd only have to stay
So I'll bid farewell in the night and be gone.
Oh ev'ry thought that's strung a knot in my mind
I might go insane if it couldn't be sprung
But it's not to stand naked under unknowin' eyes
It's for myself and my friends my stories are sung
But the time ain't tall
Yet on time you depend and no word is possessed
By no special friend
And though the line is cut
It ain't quite the end
I'll just bid farewell till we meet again.
Oh a false clock tries to tick out my time
To disgrace, distract, and bother me
And the dirt of gossip blows into my face
And the dust of rumors covers me
But if the arrow is straight
And the point is slick
It can pierce through dust no matter how thick
So I'll make my stand
And remain as I am
And bid farewell and not give a damn.

I am opening an Esty store to sell some original art work. I just have all these canvases lying around, so why not? I'll let you know as soon as I set it up.

I'm not sure who this is, but I feel as though I've known her for awhile.

And I've put these words into someone else's hands to see if they can make a song out of it. We'll see...
Compass

Get in the car
I'll put my rain boots on
and I'll meet you half way there
I'll meet you halfway there
You could make it happen
the first step is the always the hardest
but I believe in the compass
It pulls us up
It pulls us up
I used to run like vine through the garden
taking in all the pretty things
And now I'm still as the water
collected in the soul of a old footprint
Who could move me
Who could move me
Who would pull up along side me
roll down the window and point me the way
towards the sweeter elements
juicy juicy and full of life
Well, I believe in the compass
I believe in the compass
She's been traveling without a heart
to give her map over to
What's a driver without the ride
And what's a mind without direction
If I thought she were on her way
I would cut through this land
No time for rest stops
they don't hold what I need anyway
Believe in believing
my compass is finding her way back to me
She pulls us up
She pulls us up
She pulls us up
Believe in the the compass
because she pulls us up

I miss you girl. Like cray cray. It's those peaceful moments when all is right in the world. When you are just traveling along and laughing with your best friend. And then, it hits you. Literally. A "bird" or "plastic bag" (there happened to be a wing). :) Yea for opening up at Etsy! I just sold 8 silver knobs today!!! Woo-hoo!!! Remember when you said you couldn't paint?!?! And I said YES YOU CAN! I knew it, I knew it! You rock! Hooooorrrayyyy!
